I’ve seen a lotta weird stuff in my time on Enterprise, but the Barge might just take the cake. This isn’t really anything like I’d expected it to be. Of course, I’m not really sure what I did expect it to be, but this sure isn’t it. It’s definitely gonna take some gettin’ used to, but I guess I don’t have a lotta choice or anything. I’m not sure the Admiral’d appreciate me chickening out only a coupla days in, and I’m definitely not plannin’ on throwin’ in the towel anyways. I’ve got a deal ta follow through on.

Funny thing is, now that I think about it, I don’t really remember actually makin’ the deal. Or more like, I don’t remember meetin’ the Admiral. I know why I’m here, I’m just not quite sure how it happened. Is that normal?

Anyways. I'm Commander Charles Tucker, former Chief Engineer on board the starship Enterprise. Everyone calls me Trip.

She decided, in one of our earliest conversations, that she was the closest thing on board to another Vulcan. The number of Vulcans she's assimilated is...substantial. [Seriously that was not a number she needed.] Fortunately, she's incapable of that here.

How long have you been working with her?

Roughly three months. Not long at all.

But you said you've been here for sixteen.

I've had several other inmates. The Borg Queen is my fifth.

What happened to the rest of 'em?

My first graduated. [She's almost convinced this is why Trip's alive. :c] The next three did not remain on board long enough for me to properly work with.

So they just... leave? Seems kinda like a counterproductive attempt at redeeming someone, to bring 'em here and let them get off without making much progress.

It is. It happens with enough frequency not to be irregular; but most seem to stay. This is the longest I've had a single inmate in quite some time.

You think you're makin' progress?

No. Not yet. I've been...uncertain in how to approach her. [She's creepy. :c]

Can't say that I blame you, from what I remember of her friends.

[She nods a little, then finally stops pacing to turn toward him.] there are other Starfleet officers on board who have experience with her, I intend to ask their advice.

Trip, it can be dangerous here. The inmates vary from those who made mistakes in their lives to those who have murdered and tortured countless people. [She's worried. :c]

[That gets her a smile and an amused chuckle, but it's a moment before he says anything else.]

[Aaand she'll take a step back toward him, head tilted. Seriously if he thinks he's getting a lot of alone time today he is so wrong.] I am...pleased you've returned.

No. You're the first person from Captain Archer's crew to arrive in quite some time. The other Starfleet officers are from the future. [Time travel. Sigh.]

Really? Anything I should know about, or are we tryin' ta keep things from gettin' too mixed up?

That seems to be personal preference, but I've come to realize that it matters very little. I returned home, once, and did not remember anything of the Barge while I was there. [But she's going to avoid mentioning Vulcan going boom anyway. :c]

[That's for Kirk to spoil.] I guess I've never minded a little mystery. Goin' home must have been... [Ffff the future is usually kinda scary when it comes to them, maybe he doesn't want to know, why did he open his fat mouth. :|] Nice.

[Idk Trip, stop talking about it. :c] It was...not what I expected. [Pretty much rewrote her history, which, in the long run, was awesome. :|]

It is an option. I waited nearly a year before taking it. [Yeah no she knows the feeling. :c Acutely. The anniversary is in a couple weeks by her clock. And she draws in another breath like she's going to say something else, but she doesn't really know how to say 'I missed you' without losing her cool.]
