So, Ray's gone. I'm startin' to wonder if I'm ever gonna get assigned ta someone for more then a couple weeks before they vanish.

... There's somethin' I don't understand. Now, I don't pretend ta know people's reasons for needin' to go back home or anything, but I don't understand why wardens choose to leave permanently without completin' their deal. Choosin' ta leave everything for god knows how long ta complete a deal isn't somethin' you just toss around lightly. You're makin' a commitment to another person, and packin' up and leavin' because it's too hard or somethin' just seems...

I don't get it. And again, I'm not sayin' people who disappear are at fault, or that I get why people leave or anythin' but...

I'm here to do a job. And I'm not leavin' until it's over.

I know this might be some kinda "too many cooks in the kitchen" thing, but would either of you mind if I come down and take a look at the engines or somethin' once and a while? It's just, it's been kinda weird not havin' engines ta keep an eye on these last couple months and I'm not lookin' to step in and take over or anythin', I just want somethin' a little different then fixin' laundry machines and cleanin' up after people. [He's a chief engineer, not a maintenance guy and all that.]

I'm all right. Things were a little awkward durin' the breach and my inmate's gone again, but things could definitely be worse. Kinda missin' my engines, right about now.

Engines are a lot more predictable than criminals.

And they always give you somethin' ta do without puttin' up a fight about not wantin' ta talk or hang out or anything.

If I were you, I wouldn't complain. My inmate only puts up fights.

I'm really not. Ray was a good guy, and Vince and Deadpool were both pretty okay. I wish I'd been able to do more for each of them.

Coulda been worse, I guess. How often does that kinda thing happen, exactly?

Maybe they'll be back. You never know.

Not often. This is the fourth that I can remember.

Maybe. I just hope next one I get assigned to sticks around longer, you know?

I don't blame you. Movie night doesn't exactly make up for the fact that you start to feel like you're wasting your time here waiting on an inmate.

A summer camp, and a cruise where we all had amnesia.

He plays Kirk. You should watch it. It's a great old show.

Sounds like one heck of a cruise.

It wouldn't bother me. We used to have Data working here too, so I can't see a three-Warden rotation being too many. It's not as if maintaining the engine room is an afterthought.

It was hard as hell when my first inmate left too, actually. He was a cowboy. Might have yelled at us for whining during the breach.

I'm fine. It was an entirely uneventful couple of days for me.

Jim and I are kinda from the same universe. He's from a decent way ahead in the future, but I'm kinda wonderin' if I'm in a TV show too or something.
